NFL Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.
Dominant Performance Seals Game
Even with registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following giving up a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 total net yards during the contest.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes remaining.
Historic Struggles for Jets Offense
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a potential victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion rather than sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long kick.
Fields had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets finished with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," Glenn stated after the game.
