Thomas Tuchel Questions Home Crowd Support Despite Comfortable Wales Victory.

Thomas Tuchel shared his sadness that the Three Lions team did not receive more encouragement from the home crowd during their impressive triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was satisfied to see his squad maintain their good form, with goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the initial stages settling the contest. Yet, he was unhappy with the atmosphere at the national stadium.

“With one and a half training days to get ready against a organized team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel stated. “It could have been 5-0 up at half-time. We couldn’t score the additional goals. The stadium was silent. We didn’t get support from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“What more can you provide in 20 minutes? We didn’t let them escape. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s sad because the squad earned better encouragement today.”

“I stand by my words. There’s nothing more than leading three goals up in a derby. I hoped for a little more support in moments where it gets difficult.”

“After halftime, to support us, there was excessive support for Wales. It might have aided us to regain energy, but that’s football and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Away from potentially starting a fight with fans, the manager also caused a stir by omitting Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. Yet the move was backed up by Morgan Rogers excelling in the No 10 position and scoring his first international goal.

“That’s his style,” the head coach noted. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is competing for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that Wales, who host a strong Belgian side in a crucial qualifying match on Monday, improve after their awful performance in the opening period.

“That’s the reason I wanted this game,” Bellamy stated. “I need to see our current level. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? Today fills me with motivation.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was substituted at half-time after colliding with a goalpost and will be a doubt when the national team play Latvia in Riga in a qualifier on Tuesday.
